Dental Inlays and Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays performed at Manus are great alternatives to traditional metal fillings. You will enjoy the benefits of reduced sensitivity compared to metal fillings as well as the flawless matching to your other teeth. A dental inlay or onlay may also prevent the need for more extensive dental treatments in that tooth in the future.

Dental Inlays
When tooth decay develops inside of your tooth, a dental inlay is a great alternative to a metal filling. Manus will customize your dental inlay to match the color of your tooth so that the restoration is less noticeable than a metal filling. Because dental inlays are composed of porcelain and resin, you will experience fewer complications such as sensitivity to hot and cold beverages that frequently occurs when metal fillings are used in teeth. Dental inlays often have a longer life than metal fillings. If you need an old metal filling replaced, a dental inlay is a great alternative to getting another metal filling.

Dental Onlays
If the enamel of your tooth is damaged, a dental onlay prevents decay from spreading throughout the tooth. An onlay is custom made for your tooth and is fitted on top of your existing tooth structure. Getting a dental onlay at Manus may prevent the need for more extensive restorative procedures such as a dental crown, bridge or dental implant. Dental onlays are made of porcelain or resin to match your existing teeth, although you may choose a metal onlay as well. With porcelain or resin onlays, you will enjoy the advantages of less sensitivity compared to metal fillings. Your onlay will be indistinguishable from your other teeth, allowing you to have a beautiful smile upon completion of your treatment.

Inlay and Onlay Restorations
Inlay and onlay restorations require two visits to Manus offices. At the first visit, custom molds of your mouth will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory. The dental laboratory will create the inlay or onlay especially for your tooth. At the second visit, Manus will fit the inlay or onlay to your tooth and your restoration will be complete.
